In Memory of James Warren Sylvester de Wolfe

James de Wolfe

It is with a heavy heart that we learnt about the passing of Sound Ideas’ dear friend, James Warren Sylvester de Wolfe of de Wolfe Music. James passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday July 31, 2017 at the active age of 93.

James joined de Wolfe Music in 1947 after serving 5 years with the Royal Air Force during WWII. He then spent much of his time travelling all over Europe and around the world to establish the company as an international business.

In 1979, James founded Angel Recording Studios in Islington, London. Angel Studios have continued to grow through the years and are a globally recognized state of the art recording and mixing complex.

James was a true visionary and he developed his company with the times, staying ahead of the ever-changing equipment and technology.

Sound Ideas’ relationship with James and de Wolfe Music goes way back. Our first warehouse shipment of the de Wolfe Music library even included vinyl records!

The de Wolfe dynasty goes on for the family run business, though James will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by everyone here at Sound Ideas.
